Google Storage on Google Photos 2021 1

With the new unfortunate change in Google Storage Policy and Google Photos, you will find your storage running out soon…

To keep track of your data and avoid filling up your quota and missing out on emails better keep an eye on the following two links:

This link will show you where your space is spent.
It should help you find files that you can delete from your account to make significant space changes.
The second link will show all videos that could not be processed and occupy as much space as their original size.
These files could hog a great amount of space as Google Photos did not reduce them at all.
Please note that a few minutes of a high-quality video could take up many GBs from your account.

Important update to Google Photos storage policy
Starting from 1 June 2021, new photos and videos that you back up in high quality will count towards your free 15 GB of Google Account storage. We wanted to let you know well in advance because you have backed up photos and videos in high quality and will be affected by this change.
Check the backup settings on the Google Photos app or website on each device that you use to see what devices are backing up in high quality. This change does not apply to Pixel 5 and earlier devices.
Why we’re changing
Today, over 1 billion people, including you, back up a remarkable 28 billion photos to Google Photos each week. In order to welcome even more of your memories and build for the future, we are making this change.
Your existing photos and videos won’t be affected
Photos and videos backed up in high quality before 1 June 2021 won’t count towards your free 17 GB of Google Account storage.
You have 9.4 GB of storage remaining
This is based on the photos, videos, and other content that you’ve already backed up to your Google Account.
You have options to manage your storage
In June, you will be able to access a new free tool that lets you find and review blurry, dark, and other low-quality photos to help you stay within your 15 GB of free storage.
If you’d like more storage, you can get more from Google One, starting at €1.99/month for 100 GB.

An even better way by managing storage from your computer

    – On your computer, go to Google One. https://one.google.com/
    – Under “Get your space back,” click Free up account storage.
    – Under the category you want to manage, click Review and free.
    – Select the files you want to remove.
    – To sort files, at the top right, use the filters. You can’t sort some categories.
    – To preview files before you delete them, click the photos, videos, and certain emails.
    – After you select your files, at the top, click Delete “”.
    – To confirm, click Permanently delete.
